The DIRTY THIRTY form Kings Bay
Written by Carolyn Caffee

About 30 members of the Kings Bay Rotary Club of Crystal River got their hand dirty participating in the annual Adopt-A-Shore on September 16th. This is a state-wide clean-up and our club participates in this each year.
We met at the Manatee Dive and Tour located on the Crystal River around 8am and cleaned the the Kings Bay Ares (how appropriate eh?). We removed the usual cups, hats, bags, soda/beer cans along with a TV, railroad ties, golf balls and much, much more. Each item that is removed form the water is logged so that the Aquatics Department can get an idea of what items are found where... and why. In the span of about 3 1/2 hours, I am guessing that we removed around 500 lbs. collectively.
With the sun beating down on us and the heat reaching around 90 degrees, several of the members then anchored their boats to Galen Clymer's huge Eco Tour Boat at he main spring to cool off and enjoy fellowship. We have scheduled a fellowship for each month of the new Rotary year and encourage out members to invite prospective new members. This is good for out community as it is more hand helping beautify our local waters and a great way in introduce prospective members to our club.
